Coach Muscat returns back home to California to join MiraCosta College after serving as the Head Coach at Division 1, Loyola University Chicago for the past seven seasons.  In 2016 Muscat piloted the Ramblers to nine conference wins, matching their highest total since joining the MVB for the 2013 campaign.  In 2016 Loyola knocked off a pair of Power 5 conference foes, Wake Forest and Mississippi State, and claimed the championhip of the Demon Deacon Classic.

Off the court Muscat's teamat Loyola received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for having an outstanding Academic Progress Rate (APR) score.

In 2015 Muscat guided Loyola to a 20-12 overall record for the program's first 20-win season since 2004, while producing three Second Team All-MVC players.

Before taking the helm at Loyola, Muscat was an assistant coach at University of Missouri (2009-10) where the Tigers rattled off 40 wins.  The Missouri season culminated in the program's Sweet 16 appearance.  While on staff with the Tigers, Muscat was responsible for training outside-hitters and implementing the team's defensive and blocking schemes.

Muscat began his collegiate coaching career in 2007 at Stanford as a Volunteer Assistant, where he spent two years on the bench with the legendary coach John Dunning.  While with the Cardinal, Muscat aided with practice planning, skill development and scouting.  Those Stanford teams posted a record of 64-7 during his tenure, securing two Pac-10 Conference titles before advancing to the National Championship game.

Coach Muscat graduated from UCLA in 2001, where he was a student-athlete from 1998-2000.  He graduated with a BS in Biology and earned a Masters of Education from San Jose State in 2006.  He spent seven years teaching high school in the Bay Area before making the leap back into the collegiate game.

Coach Muscat and his wife, Chrissy, live in Carlsbad and have two children, Hannah and Ryan.
