MiraCosta Remains Undefeated in Conference Play, Sweep Grossmont and Mt. San Jacinto
The MiraCosta College women's beach volleyball team continued its dominant run on Friday, delivering back-to-back 5-0 sweeps and reinforcing its position as one of the top programs in the country.
Leading the way once again was the Spartans' top pair of Hailey Heflin and Kiara Keibel, who continue to establish themselves as one of the elite duos in the state. Currently ranked No. 2 among all pairs in the 3C2A with an impressive TruVolley rating of 7.31, the pair set the tone with confident, composed play—dictating tempo and closing out points with authority.
MiraCosta was in complete control from the first serve to the final point in both matches, showcasing its depth across all five flights. Every pair contributed to the sweeps, as the Spartans limited opponents' opportunities and maintained steady pressure throughout the day. Other pairings that stood out in today's matches include Daniela Szajkowski and Chara Wondercheck, Gwen Mitchell and Kylie Osborne, Savai Sivaulani and Claire Komadina and Emily Musolf and Willow Snow.
With the victories, MiraCosta improves to a perfect 6-0 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and 15-4 overall. Even more impressive, the Spartans now hold an 11-1 record against fellow community college programs, with their only loss coming in a tightly contested battle earlier this season. The remaining three defeats have all come against four-year competition, underscoring the team's commitment to challenging itself at the highest level. It is worth noting that the Spartans recently defeated Vanguard University and beat Arizona Christian University and Hope International University early in the season.
Currently ranked No. 4 nationally, the Spartans are not just winning—they're evolving. With standout performances at the top of the lineup and increasing consistency throughout the roster, MiraCosta is building serious momentum as the season progresses.
As conference play continues, MiraCosta is building momentum with each outing, positioning itself as a serious contender for a championship run. If today's performance is any indication, this group is far from peaking—and the rest of the field is on notice.
